Pelvic Floor 101 with Dr. Johanna Hanley PT, DPT

Is it normal to pee yourself when laughing? Should my c-section scar still hurt? Scared to return to intercourse or exercise postpartum? Let’s talk about any burning questions in a small group setting of Maeve parents, who are probably wondering the same thing! No matter where you are in your postpartum or pregnancy journey, it’s never too late to address these concerns and take care of you.

While this session will provide information about the pelvic floor, including some breathing activities and exercise basics, it can be tailored to the participants as appropriate. Come listen and/or share your birth and postpartum experiences and learn about more about the incredible resilience of the postpartum and pregnant body.

Dr. Johanna Hanley PT, DPT is a mom of two and licensed Physical Therapist who specializes in Pelvic Floor conditions. She has particular interest in working with patients through in pregnancy/postpartum as well as patients with chronic pain conditions. She co-owns a small, independent Pelvic Physical Therapy practice in South Pasadena, Welcome Physical Therapy.

Not a Maeven yet? We’d love to have you join our chapter! Take a peek at our membership page and come be part of the community; everyone who parents is welcome.

Transition to Solids

Transition to Solids

https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82842366338?pwd=v3bbCyIcVrPqgHEeddMBX2jOwHCEno.1

Meeting ID: 828 4236 6338
Passcode: maeve

We are incredibly honored to have MAEVE Mt. Washington member, Dr. Eliza Binstock, lead a "by popular demand" presentation.

This topic came about organically in the Lemurs group, after several Maevens started asking thoughtful questions about beginning solids. If you’re at that stage—or approaching it and feeling curious, unsure, or even a little overwhelmed—you’re very much in the right place.

We’ll start with a brief, practical overview of how to begin solids, including signs of readiness and what those early weeks can realistically look like. We’ll also talk openly about common fears and concerns (yes, many of them are shared!), as well as issues that often come up once you’ve started. There will be time spent on introducing straws and cups, and we’ll wrap up by sharing helpful, trustworthy resources you can refer back to later.

This is designed to feel supportive and conversational, not like a lecture. You don’t need prior experience, and you don’t need to already know anyone. Come listen, ask questions if you’d like, or just soak it in. Whether you’re feeling confident, cautious, or somewhere in between, you’re welcome here—and you’ll likely leave feeling more grounded and reassured.

Dr. Eliza Binstock is a mom of two young girls and a pediatric occupational therapist with nearly 10 years of experience. After spending 6–7 years as the Director of Occupational Therapy at an outpatient pediatric clinic, she recently started her own in-home pediatric OT practice following the birth of her second child last year.

She specializes in sensory integration assessment and intervention, feeding, and the transition to solids, and serves Northeast Los Angeles (NELA) and surrounding areas. Dr. Binstock is passionate about sharing knowledge with families, supporting learning through connection, and building confidence during early developmental transitions.

Open to friends, neighbors, and the community.

MAEVE Learns: Get Ready for Potty Training with Good To Go

Virtual Meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86587024905?pwd=rX0aDkSGeKxfyN4p00aBDYc9DXrPHL.1
Meeting ID: 865 8702 4905
Passcode: MAEVE

Join MAEVE Mt. Washington - Glassell Park for a conversation with Gia Gambaro Blount and Laura Birek, NELA moms and authors of the new hit book: Good to Go, A Fresh Take on Potty Training for Today's Intentional Parent. They will join us to teach some of their proven potty training methods in this informative, entertaining session.

Their book is described as, "a practical and utterly-relatable guide that empowers parents to navigate potty training with confidence and ease.

Potty-training methods all seem to follow one of two concepts: either waiting forever to see “signs of readiness” or resigning yourself to an intense and messy three-day naked weekend. But these approaches fail to align with today's more respectful, intentional, and collaborative parenting styles.

Good to Go is here to fix that, teaching 90% of the potty-training skills children need before ditching the diapers."

There is a small parking lot at Segray, and street parking is also available.

Any unclaimed toys at the end of the event will be brought to the Buy Nothing event MAEVE is participating in on 11/15 (see calendar for details).
